Snow predictions fall short

January 12, 2024

The weather service gave a weather alert earlier this week addressing potential snowfall from 6 to 12 inches arriving late Thursday into Friday. As the week progressed those predictions changed to 6-8 inches and ended up being pushed south into Oregon mainly bypassing most of the Columbia Basin as a frigid cold front pushed in from the north. Othello saw snowfall Thursday evening as did the Mesa area. Snowfall came as more of a dusting, falling short of the significant accumulation we expected. Othello Schools did call for a 2-hour delay on Friday due to conditions with their snowfall.

Cold air and windchills are making for frigid air across the area with teens and single digits before windchill factors ( often moving them into the minus category). This is expected through, at least, the mid to end of next week.
