If you’ve ever dramatically stared out a window while singing about your dreams… or felt personally victimized by a sibling… the North Franklin Community Theatre has the perfect opportunity for you.

The theatre group is hosting drop-in auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on March 2 and March 3 from 6 to 8 pm in the high school band room. That’s right — for two magical evenings, the band room will transform from “clarinet squeaks and drum warm-ups” to “royal ball realness.”

Directors are seeking performers ages 14 and older. Younger performers are welcome as long as they have a parent or guardian participating alongside them. (Yes, Mom, this may finally be your big break. Dad, we see you eyeing the role of the King.)

This beloved musical retells the classic fairy tale with all the sweeping melodies, charming romance, and delightfully dramatic family tension you could ever want. Featuring iconic songs like “In My Own Little Corner” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” the show offers roles for princes, dreamers, fairy godmothers, stepsisters with… big personalities… and plenty of townsfolk who love a good royal celebration.

No glass slipper required for auditions — but preparation is. Participants should come ready to sing and read from the script. Bring a song that shows off your voice and your personality. Directors are looking for performers who can not only carry a tune but also bring heart, humor, and maybe just a little bit of royal sparkle.

Need inspiration? Spend some quality time on YouTube watching clips of past productions. Study the Fairy Godmother’s confidence. Observe the stepsisters’ commitment to chaos. Practice your royal wave. (Pro tip: it’s all in the wrist.)

Whether you’re a seasoned stage veteran or someone who sings exclusively in the shower but feels destiny calling, this is your invitation. Community theatre is about fun, friendship, and occasionally gluing rhinestones onto things that absolutely did not need rhinestones — but look better because of them.

So mark your calendar, warm up those vocal cords, and head to the high school band room March 2 or 3 between 6 and 8 p.m. Your carriage awaits — and unlike Cinderella’s, this opportunity won’t disappear at midnight.
