FROM the EDITOR and Reader Survey

January 18, 2024

As I write this, I am sitting in a cold newsroom. Not only are temperatures in the single digits (not to mention the wind chills), it appears our heater decided to break down, just before this cold came in. Just like the postal slogan - the news must still go out - rain, shine, snow - it will still go out.

Farmers know this as well, it doesn’t matter the weather conditions - they are out there working - feeding animals, tending land, and growing the food that feeds the world.

We are grateful to everyone who braves these conditions alongside us. Including our city public works crew who have been braving the elements to thaw frozen pipes all weekend and especially our first responders and military.

This time of year, it is often your snow pictures that fill our pages. But, without any snowfall, we’ve still been able to generate some pretty interesting news items to cover and share with our readers.

Speaking of news coverage....  I hope you enjoyed our year in review published earlier this month. It was interesting to see the variety of news coverage we had in 2023.

As we move into the year of 2024, we want to hear from you, our readers, what it is that you enjoyed reading in our pages during 2023 and what you might like to see more of or see added to our pages in 2024. On “National Get to Know Your Customers Day” we are doing just that - getting to know you, our readers and what you’d like to see from us.

We created an online survey that can be accessed by scanning the QR code (l). Please take the time to fill it out and add in your comments, and ideas at the end.

We look forward to hearing from you and

bringing you the news in 2024. . .
