OneEnergy invites the North Franklin community to a public meeting to discuss plans for a proposed solar energy project east of Connell.

Members of OneEnergy have held two smaller meetings at the Connell Visitors Center. The first, hosted by the Greater Connell Area Chamber of Commerce, answered people's questions on the topic of solar farms and OneEnergy. The latest, held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, featured renderings of how the project would look in our landscape.

OneEnergy has been speaking with neighbors of the proposed site, near the Connell airport, as well as working with Franklin PUD.

The project has received the name, Palouse Junction Solar, a nod to our history.

SAVE THE DATE: November 14 at 6pm at the Connell Community Center, 211 E. Elm Street.

More on the project from OneEnergy:

Connell, WA — OneEnergy Renewables invites members of the community to an open house event to discuss Palouse Junction Solar, a proposed solar energy project in Franklin County. The project, planned for an 80-acre site east of Connell, would supply affordable electricity to the Franklin Public Utility District and provide benefits to the community in the form of jobs, tax revenue, local partnerships, and energy reliability. It is at an early stage of development and the project team is seeking input from the community before plans are finalized. The open house will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 6:00 PM at the Connell Community Center, located at 211 E. Elm Street. Attendees will have the chance to learn more about the project’s benefits, ask questions, and share their thoughts with the OneEnergy team.

“OneEnergy Renewables strives to advance clean energy solutions that support local communities,” said Nathan Stottler, Director of Development. “Palouse Junction Solar reflects our commitment to developing a project that will contribute to the economic growth of Franklin County while delivering a reliable supply of affordable power for years to come. We look forward to meeting with the community and gathering important feedback from stakeholders at the open house this week and as the process moves forward.” “This project aligns directly with Franklin PUD’s mission of providing safe, reliable and affordable cost-based power that benefits our customers,” said Victor Fuentes, Engineering and Operations Senior Director for Franklin PUD. “If completed, this project will add energy capacity to the area and provide the community with opportunity for growth by new and existing customers.”

Following the open house, OneEnergy will submit its land use application for Palouse Junction Solar to Franklin County, initiating a local permitting process that will determine whether the project can move forward at the proposed site. The design of the project will be finalized at a later stage.
