The CHS Track Team posed for a photo as classmates sent them off to State.
Connell, WA – The Connell High School boys and girls track and field teams competed in the State Track & Field Championships in Yakima on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 23-25.Representing CHS on the girls team were McKenzie Clyde (Javelin), Natalie Jenks (400, 4x400), Kyla McGary (4x400), Monse Caro (4x400), Kiersten Price (4x400), and Mia Fregoso (4x400 alternate). The boys team representatives were Christian Larios (800, 1600), Tyler Li (High Jump, 4x100), Kellen Riner (Javelin, 4x100), Peyton Pyeatt (4x100), Max Andersen (4x100), Carson Lloyd (Javelin), and Jackson Forsyth (Discus).

Congrats to Carson Lloyd (not pictured) for placing 3rd in the Javelin with a personal record of 184’!
The boys team finished in a tie for ninth place with Riverside. The girls team did not score any points. Riner set a WIAA State Meet record with his 197’10” javelin throw to win the individual state championship. It was the third individual state championship in a row in the boys javelin for CHS. Carson Riner (2022), Carson Lloyd (2023), and Kellen Riner (2024). Larios, the first CHS athlete to compete in the 800 and 1600 in the same State Meet since Dallin Price in 2019, just missed setting two PR’s in his events.
Clyde qualified for state in the girls javelin in her first year on the track team. Individual results are listed below with place in parenthesis. ** - Personal Record (PR); * - Season Record (SR); DNS - (Did Not Start); DNF – (Did Not Finish); ND - (No Distance/Height); + - Qualified for Districts in that event.
