Connell Eagles Soccer earns Berth to State

Connell, WA – The Connell Eagles boys’ soccer team (14-5, 10-3) hosted the Bulldogs (11-9-1, 9-4) of Cashmere on Tuesday, May 13. Connell came out on a mission to salvage their season. They opened the game with a quick goal to take an early 1-0 lead. They scored again less than 10 minutes before half time. The 2-0 lead was enough to pull out the victory, despite the Bulldogs’ best efforts in the second half. The Eagles reigned victorious with a 2-1 win.

The Eagles traveled to Royal City on Saturday, May 17, to face the Northwest Christian Crusaders (12-7), the Northeast A League’s #2 seed, for a trip to State. The Eagles were determined to continue their season. Connell was ferocious in the execution of the game plan and attacked the Crusaders on offense and defense. The Eagles showcased strong play on both sides of the ball for the entire game, clinching a berth to State with a 4-1 victory.
The #13 ranked Eagles will travel to Brewster on Tuesday, May 20, to face the #15 ranked Brewster Bears (13-4-2) in a loser out play-in opening round game. If the Eagles beat the Bears, they will travel to King’s High School in Shoreline, WA, to face the #1 ranked University Prep Pumas (13-0-2), a private school in Seattle, WA, in another loser-out game on Friday, May 23. If they beat University Prep, the Eagles will play another loser-out game at King’s High School in Shoreline, WA, on Saturday, May 24 against the winner of #8 ranked Seton Catholic Cougars (14-2-3) v. #7 ranked Wahluke Warriors (17-3, 12-1). Come out and support your CHS soccer teams as they position themselves for a run through the post season.

Update: The Eagles took on Brewster with a win of 5 to 1 and are now onto round two of State - heading to Seattle to take on the number one seed as they strive for a spot in the State quarter finals!
