The “Raise the Roof” fundraiser held in downtown Connell on Thursday, June 8, brought in a total of $ $2,986, just shy of $3,000.
The event featured a meal of baked potatoes with chili and all the fixin’s, cookies, and water provided by Tyra Gilbert of the Pizza Station with potatoes donated by Randy and Rob Davis. Your meal ticket also got you into the 50/50 raffle pot.
Josh Gardner won the 50/50 raffle, then promptly gave it back in support of the Legion.
Raffle tickets were also sold for a variety of items. provided by KaTrina Kunkel of Kaffrin’s Coffee along with Marcie Koch, Clary Metal Art, and Flying Colors. Donation boxes were also available.
The event didn’t draw a huge crowd but did sell out of food and accomplished its mission of raising more funds to assist in putting a new roof onto the historic building downtown that houses the American Legion Post #195. The roof was destroyed in a spring storm earlier this year.
Local Veterans/Legion members served up guests and enjoyed conversations with those who came out in support.
It was a beautiful evening as the weather was just right and the music, provided by Michael Parker of The Golden Ponies, made it even more enjoyable. Everyone enjoyed the music.
Everyone’s support and donations are greatly appreciated.
